Getting Ready for the Fair
As many of you know, my son is going to be showing his steers and heifer  in the upcoming 4-H fair. The fair is not until the last week of July, but my kids are also going to be showing them at the Clark country fair, it takes place on June 27th. I know there are many of you out there that don't know what it takes to get cattle ready to go to fair, Let me tell you from experience, it is a hell of allot of work! First and foremost your cattle have to be broke to lead. After your cattle are broke to lead. Which usually takes 4 or 5 months to get them really tame, you have to start working with them. You have to walk them around and make them know that you are in control. This can be very hard for a lil boy who only weighs 120 pounds. Especially when the cattle that he is trying to lead weight over 1000 pounds a piece. For about 2 weeks before fair you have to wash the cattle once a day every day. Not only do you have to wash them from top to bottom, you then have to brush their hair up, then blow dry their hair, then brush again, then you have to spray them down with fly spray so the flys don't bite them. Its a very long boring process in which you get almost as wet as the cattle do, lol.
Now that I have bored you silly, ill show you some pics of the kids leading the steers.

This is Katie, leading Heaven. Heaven weights in at 1060 pounds.
